The first edition of the January Macau Jewellery & Watch Fair will be held from 10 to 13 January 2008 at The Cotal Strip TM Convention an Exhibition Center at the Venetian Macao. The January Macau Jewellery & Watch Fair, The first-ever international trade fair for the jewellery industry at the begining of the year in Macau, is organised by CMP Asia. More than 300 exhibitions from all over the world have confirmed their participation as of July 2007.

Sotheby's announced results for the second quater and six months ended June 30,2007. For the quater anded June 30, 2007. The company reported record revenues of US$91.2 million, or 37%, increase from the prior period, primarily due to a 43% increase in Consolidated Sales to US$ 2.3 billion which includes a 45% increase in private sales to US$172.6 million. Income from continuing operations for the second quarter of 2007 was an historic high of US$107.3 million compared to US$72.4 million compared to US$72.4 million for the prior period, a US$35.0 million or 48% improvment.

Bangkok Gems & Jewelry
The Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Far will be held over 18-22 September, 2007 at Impact Challenger, Thailand's latest exhibition and convention centre complete with modern design and hi-tech facilities. This time, the show is celebrating its 40th edition. The bi-annual event is expected to draw over 20,000 visitors over the five days. It is co-organized by the Thai Gem and Jewelry Traders Association & (TGJTA) and Thailand's Department of Export Promotion.

With the adevnt of HPHT treatments and sophisticated irradiation techniques, the age-old practice of coating diamonds to enhance their color would seem to be a thing of the past. However, the GIA Lab has been an increase in coated diamonds submitted in recent months, which prompted researchers to investigate a new commercial coating that is now in the diamond market.
