its Mining Projects Alert Service. The service providesa comprehensive
quarterly update on advanced exploration to development stage gold
and silver projects. It will be a valuable tool for organisations
looking to identify early stage opportunities to service the gold
mining industry, says GFMS. The Mining Projects Alerts Service covers
projects in 43 countries. Of the 147 projects, 33 are in the commissioning
or construction stage. Production from this category is expected to
generate roughly 80 tonnes of gold in 2005 increasing to around 140
tonnes per annum from 2006 onwards, says GFMS. Antwerp Court issues A court in Antwerp has sentenced eight
people for up to six years in prison for trafficking in diamonds illegally
obtained in conflict areas of Africa, and as such became the first
judicial body worldwide to issue a conviction in a case concerning

De eers India and the Hindustan Diamond
Company (HDC) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding whereby
HDC will subscribe for a 26% interest in De Beers India(DBI), with
an investment of US$3.75 million. HDC is an equal joint-venture between
the government of India and De Beers, established in 1978. Paris Cristofol buys Paris based the Cristofol Company has recently purchased the Cauet S.A.R.L. jewellery workshop located on the city's famous Rue Lafayette. For many years, Cristofol has developed a strong presence on the main overseas markets, in particular the US and Japan. London-based Argentinum Silver Co. (A.S.Co) has announced the launch
of a new sterling silver that it says will keep its shine indefinitely
without the need for polishing. A.S.Co said, Argentinum(TM) Sterling
Silver is the first highly tarnish-resistant sterling available in
all the traditional forms needs for wide scale manufacture.This new
silver could replace up to 50% of the total worldwide silver market
share - estimated by experts at US$30 billion from traditional

panel of three judges in a German court have issued a restraining
order to a German distributor of gem-quality synthetic diamonds produced
by the Gemesis Corporation, a Florida-based company, to cease using
the term "cultured diamonds" when marketing its products
to the public in Germany. Explaining its decision, the court said
