winners of the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Geneve were announced in
Geneva, Switzerland recently. The competition is one of the world's
major awards for luxury watches. The top prize, the Prix de L'Aiguille
d'Or went to F.P. Journe for His Grande et Petite Sonnerie Souveraine
timepiece. The July Prize went to Lange & Sohne for the Tourbograph
timepiece. The Lady's Watch Prize went to Patek Phillippe for its
Gondolo Gemma. The Men's Watch Prize was awarded to Roger Dubuis'
Excalibur Triple Time Zone timepiece. Polygon Introduces
Polygon launched inventoryPower, a
technology enabling retailers and wholesalers to integarte to their
website a professionally designed shopping interface to showcase diamonds
online. With inventoryPower, Polygon retailers can tap from CertNet,
an online database of diamonds, and select only the Polygon suppliers
of their choice. InventoryPower is totally customizable, says Polygon
so retailers can integrate their own brand, colors and communication
strategy. For their own websites, wholesalers can also bundle it with
TradeLock so that only authorized partners may retrieve their inventory. GIA

The Gemological Institute of America
(GIA) announced the appointment of Donna M.Baker to the permanent
position of president. She had been serving as GIA's acting president
since May 2006. The announcement came at the opening of the GIA Board
of Governors' regular November meeting. Board Chairman Helene Fortunoff
said. "We have every confidence in her ability to execute the
Institute's commitment to archieve greater transparency, more accountability,
a stronger level of customer focus, and a continued improvement in

concluded recently with designer Barbara Berk's presentation. "Of
Potholders and Pigtails: Contemporary Applications of Textile Techniques

love of fabric and sewing to the weaving of precious metals by hand,
thereby creating the "fabric" that becomes her jewelry,
