International Fashion Academy GFMS
has launched its Mining Projects Alert Service. The service providesa
comprehensive quarterly update on advanced exploration to development
stage gold and silver projects. It will be a valuable tool for organisations
looking to identify early stage opportunities to service the gold
mining industry, says GFMS. The Mining Projects Alerts Service covers
projects in 43 countries. Of the 147 projects, 33 are in the commissioning
or construction stage. Production from this category is expected to
generate roughly 80 tonnes of gold in 2005 increasing to around 140
tonnes per annum from 2006 onwards, says GFMS. Drop
in gold jewellery demand A court in Antwerp has sentenced eight
people for up to six years in prison for trafficking in diamonds illegally
obtained in conflict areas of Africa, and as such became the first
judicial body worldwide to issue a conviction in a case concerning

group, announced its sales figures for the quarter ended 31 December
2004. Sales in the three-months up to 31 December 2004 were 9% above
the prior year at actual exchange rates. Underlying sales in local

net sales in the holiday period from November 1-December 3, 2004 increased

850 designs for the HRD Awards 2005, a biennial diamond jewellery
contest that offers a forum to young designers. A professional jury
has now selected 48 artists for the final. The criteria were design,
