WFDB

The Executive Commitee of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) and the management of the Diamond Trading Company(DTC) held their annual meeting recently.
Their discussions covered a range of important industry-wide issues, including the need for ethical accountability within the industry.
Signature salons

Signature salons, the event for elite jewelry manufacturers and retailers at Wynn Las Vegas, concluded its second year with a significant overall increase in retail attendance including an impressive first day increase of over 30%. Held over June 3-6, Signature Salons provided
fine jewelry designers and retailers with a luxurious and relaxed atmosphere in the hectic Las Vegas market week.
Ernest Blom elected
The General Assembly of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB), meeting at the recent World Diamond Congress in Tel Aviv, has unanimously approved Ernest Blom as its new president. Mr. Blom, who is chairman of the Diamond Club of South Africa, previously served as WFDB vice president. He succeeds Shmuel Schnitzer, who steps down after completing who successive two-year terms as president. Earlier, Mr.Schnitzer was named Honorary Life President of the WFDB.
Competition in the US jewelry
The US jewelry market slowed in 2005, leading to even more competition at US jewelry counters, according to a Unity Marketing study. Signs are that the retail market for jewelry is going to get even more challenging in the immediate future as the effects of market saturatution begin to be felt.

ICA memers exhibiting at the recent JCK Show in Las Vegas reported mixed reviews about buyer turnout and sales at the Show . While the majority of ICA members were not overly enthusiatic about the results of the Show, some did indicate that sales were good. Most agreed, however, that they did not meet new buyers at the Show this year.
